Women, Business & Breakfast Sessions
Join the Centre for Women in Business Cape Breton for a series of complimentary, in-person Women, Business & Breakfast sessions in the month of March at various locations across the island. Hear from inspiring guests, learn about how the Centre for Women in Business can support you no matter where you are on your entrepreneurial journey, and network with our women business owners on the island!
Women, Business & Breakfast guests will:
- Connect with other local women business owners
- Increase confidence in their business management skills (and get inspired!)
- Gain new tools and perspectives
Each 2 hour session will consist of the following:

March 17th – St. Peter’s

Held at the lovely Bras d’Or Lakes Inn on the St. Peter’s Canal. Music Nova Scotia and ECMA Nominee Leona Burkey will perform live music and share about her varied business experience including artist entrepreneur, co-managing her company, and social enterprise ventures . This event will also be an introduction to local business owners of the services The Centre for Women in Business offers entrepreneurs on the island, as well as a networking opportunity.
March 20th – Whycocomagh

Location: Keltic Quay Bayfront Lodge & Cottages in Whycocomagh in Inverness County, Cape Breton
Guest: Abbey Mullendore
Held at the beautiful Keltic Quay Resort on Whycocomagh Bay. Abbey Mullendore will perform and speak about her newest business venture in dried mushrooms. This event will also be an introduction to local business owners of the services The Centre for Women in Business offers entrepreneurs on the island, as well as a networking opportunity.
March 27 – Sydney

Location: Eltuek Arts Centre, Sydney, Cape Breton
Guest: Elyse Aeryn
Join us for the last breakfast in the series at Eltuek Arts Centre for a discussion on creativity in business and will include an introduction to the Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative (CBMIC) and how businesses can utilize the talent pool in Cape Breton for their business. Elyse Aeryn, an up-and-coming artist, will perform a few songs. Afterwards guests will head next door for a brief discussion of the services provided by Navigate Startup House, and the Sydney Makerspace for a sticker machine demonstration.
Light refreshments will conclude the event.
